The Gamma Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi is deeply rooted in the University of Miami community. Established in 1942, during World War II, our chapter has been on campus for almost 70 years. Since Gamma Phi's establishment, it has remained active every single year. No other fraternity at the University of Miami has remained active for as long as Sigma Chi, and this will not change in the years to come.
When it comes to the University of Miami Hurricanes Football Games, there are few traditions as memorable as the players entering through the smoke, and the cannon-blast heard around Miami every time the 'Canes score. That cannon-blast comes from Touchdown Tommy, a cannon fired by the brothers of Gamma Phi every time the Hurricanes score. Touchdown Tommy is one of the longest standing traditions of both the school and the football program. Everytime the 'Canes score, Gamma Phi will be there, proudly shooting off Touchdown Tommy.

Our chapter currently has around 70 active members, about thirty-five of which live in our fraternity house. Our house is located directly across from Alex Rodriguez Park, Miami's baseball stadium. The house features two parking lots, a sand volleyball court, a pool table, a common area inside, and an additional adjacent house featuring a kitchen, a loft, and extra bathrooms.
